You might have heard of the two back-to-back conferences in Edmonton dealing with the problem of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

What you probably haven’t heard of is the total cost: $1.4 million.

And what you likely didn’t know is that the Alberta government is covering almost half the bill: $600,000.

But what you should know is that the two conferences are probably worth every penny.

The Alberta government is trying to find a solution to a problem that costs Canadian society millions if not billions of dollars a year.
