Alberta Gov’t makes moves to prevent FASD

Alberta is collaborating on an international charter to help prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder — and develop new strategies to curb prenatal alcohol consumption altogether.

The provincial government estimates there are more than 36,000 Albertans living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), a lifelong disability caused by the maternal consumption of alcohol during pregnancy that results in a range of birth defects and behavioural disorders.
